Great stuff, Richard! Reminded me of Beryl Markham's "West with the Night," when she was running out of fuel trying to be the first woman pilot to cross the Atlantic solo. Hers was great too!
I have a copy of her book on the way. As I looked into it, I found Hemingway liked it, too. He said, “She has written so well, and marvelously well, that I was completely ashamed of myself as a writer.”
