When I was still in the single digits, maybe 5,I loved to swing as high as I could on my belly. It was exhilarating. And then I kicked so hard and got so high up then I slipped and went face first in the ground. I think it was just a horribly scrapped forehead, nose and chin. Never did that again. LOL
Oh my gosh! I was literally laughing so hard. I was nearly crying while reading this today! I have done many similar not such a good idea things in my life too, and one of them involved flying over the handlebars of a bicycle at high rate of speed While traveling down a steep hill with no hands and my pant leg got caught in the spokes and the wheel stopped suddenly and I flipped over the handlebars and flew through the air and landed face and elbows first on the pavement. You brought back a lot of memories with this story today so thank you for sharing. It also makes me realize in our work today how we should See the end before we really get down the path. I love the don’t start idea until you’ve considered the outcome, great advice I hope you have a great weekend and yes, I too hope that your weekend is ER free.
We used to open the door and slide our shoes on the road to make them start smoking. Sometimes we'd hold onto the door to do both feet at the same time. I did that until my Conversed foot hit a reflector going 30+ mph. That wasn't fun, but I didn't lose any teeth.
I felt a special connection to this post - great work! https://open.substack.com/pub/skitch/p/what-is-skitch?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=yksmb
As they say on Reddit, "username checks out." I really enjoyed your writing.

Reminds me that comedy bit about the danger of playgrounds

Just takes a few extra minutes. “What happens next if…”
Great piece. That sounds horrific for a parent.

I think we share a lot the same personality traits :)
